What I mean is, you are always going to have reasons why you should play smaller, and there are many reasons why you can’t [fill in the blank].
Business isn’t just a way for you to make a living, it’s also a way for you to heal the past and be the best version of yourself possible. To me, that’s the most exciting part of walking through my fears.
It can be exhilarating, but not until you stop complaining!

I just received this e-mail, and it inspired me to address situations like this. (I’ll keep the sender anonymous.)
E-MAIL:
My reason for not purchasing the generous products is simply because when my husband died, my income dropped by half. I am barely able to pay the rent and, thanks to food stamps, I get to eat. If I had extra money, helping my spiritual growth would definitely be the priority.
I love how this woman reached out, and I respect her challenges. I also just got back from Africa where many women face similar problems and have fifteen children to look after to boot. They don’t get food stamps to feed themselves. They’re on their own!
My response:
What can you do to make extra money so that you can get ahead? You aren't planning on just waiting for something to change, are you?
That would be a very risky game to play with your life.
With love and respect, and in no way saying to buy my offers,that this is straight from my heart to yours. If you want things to change, you are going to have to do something different.
You are going to have to NOT look at the problem anymore and instead find a new way to live your life. Look for a way that specifically moves you toward a new beginning! – Shanda

My point in that email was to say…
You have skills, and I know that it’s hard to break away from the real time constraints, age excuses, and lacking talent problems that you may be facing. However, those are just a FEW REASONS to NOT do something about your situation.
Let’s explore all the reasons WHY you COULD change your life today!
- You have a child that you want to grow up believing in themselves
- You want a baby
- You want to be a good partner
- Your parents are getting older and you want to make sure they are comfortable in their old age
- Because you want to see Greece
- You want to see other parts of the world, not just your own corner of your country
- Your best friend doesn’t live in your city and you miss her
- You want to start your own business and be of service
- You want to hire a PR company to promote yourself
- Your teeth need work and you would LOVE to go to the dentist
- And, honestly, I could go on forever… I want a home on the ocean!

Fantastic Ellen. It’s great that you are doing that AND we are better in a group so go find a group that you can study with that are creating the same thing you are. Otherwise that’s a hard strategy to do by yourself. Keep your dream aline Ellen! Shanda
Finally after two years I’m on the verge of finalizing my divorce. My ex has done everything possible to be nasty even get my 6 yr & 10 yr old children to believe his lies. I have not been on my own for 18 yrs. I’m struggling to make ends meet and give my children as much time as possible. I started my business many years ago but was not able to really get off the ground, no family support and low confidence. I want to be able to spend as much time with my children as they need, I want to be financially stable as a single mom so I can buy my own house ect and travel with my children. I’m working several part-time jobs and still trying to find a way for my business to work for me. It seems like a constant struggle but I’m hopeful good things will come.
Wow LeeAnn your drive is inspiring. Good for you dispite it all to be doing whatever it takes. To me it seems like you could use a break in life. What business do you want to own? What’s the difference you want to make for people? Shanda

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Your blog posts keep me inspired when I’m feeling down. I run my own home based travel agency. As I’m sure you have experienced in your travels, travel creates wonderful things in ones life. It grows you as a person, you become more enlightened, more grateful, it’s such an amazing journey. That is how I feel and what I want to help others experience. However I’m having difficulty getting out my message of why choose me and letting people know I’m alive.
Specialize in a particular area of the world that you want to be the best in. Think about who your client is and what kind of travel experience that client wants.
Then your quickest way to launch would be to partner with someone who already services your ideal client and give them a 20 or maybe even 30% referral fee back for referring you business.
Take less money now to make more with other people sending you clients. If you follow that model you will find that you will find ONE or possibly TWO really good partners who will make you rich!
PS I’ve seen this happen recently with a business partner friend of mine. So the model is already TESTED and PROVEN so go do it and don’t stop at I don’t know how. Go figure it out..
I work 8 hours a week not by my choice. I have spent 4 years job hunting without luck. I spent 30 years as a (stay at home) homeschooling mom. In the 4 years I got one interview. I have pestered so many people to help I am determined. What else is there for me to do????? I have been at my current job for over 7 years
Janice, there is something off here. When you say 4 years looking for a job. Maybe it’s time to start your own company or be more consistent with your follow through. You probably just cringed there but hear my words. You have options but people don’t like to get pestered nor do they want to hire desperate people.
Positioning is HUGE in getting results. Start with what do you want to do!
Work off of that platform and then start asking yourself why that makes sense for you.
Then start looking for places to apply or (start your own company) to serve your soul!
