This might be your biggest block with finding your niche.  Let me put it another way- if you don’t discover a specific niche for yourself, you’ll struggle in business.

It’s not about throwing more money at marketing despite what some people may have told you.  It’s about knowing what your client wants and what is important to them.  Let me explain.

Our biggest job as a business owner is to serve our ideal client the best we can.  In order for you to do that, you must know WHO they are and WHAT they want.  Otherwise you’ll be guessing, and wondering why your data base doesn’t buy what you present.  On the flip side, if you are not clear, then you will have noticed that you’ve been spinning your wheels and not getting any traction.

Making money is about serving at a higher level then most!                        If you already know who your ideal client is, GREAT.  You might be able to get some nuggets in what I’m about to expose so keep reading. If you’re completely lost then hold on tight because this is your lucky day!

Declaring Who You’re Serving Is Establishing Who Your Ideal Client Is!

My client Judy had a dream much like you to make a difference in the world.  Unfortunately, she was so broke that she couldn’t afford to buy groceries for her daughter and husband.  Yet with all that, building her business was calling her from such a deep place that she couldn’t resist.

In fact, to this day I have no idea how she got the money to coach with me.  That doesn’t really matter, anyway.  The fact that she found a way is impressive to me. When the pain of NOT manifesting your dream gets big enough you’ll find a way just like Judy.

Today, Judy has her own company and she makes a heavy five figure income doing what she loves.  She emailed me a year later to share with me that she and her husband were taking a cruise together. icon smile Women Entrepreneurs Discover Their Niche She got clear on her gifts and together we were able to create a scalable company around her ideal client.

A deep drive to overcome challenges makes good opportunity for success.

When you choose who you want to serve allow yourself to play the game of elimination.  You see people will do anything to get WANT in life. However, they already know what they should do – like go to the gym- yet they still don’t.

1) As you choose who you’re going to serve, ask yourself who are the people that you really want to serve?

Write down all the people you can think of and get specific.  Are they men, women over 50, or dog lovers?  You see my point here: allow yourself to flow with the options of all the people you’d feel good about serving with your product or service and be as specific as possible.

  1. Choose your favorite target audience to work with out of your brain storm.  You’ve got to pick ONE!  The fastest way to a financial breakthrough is to serve a small specific group of people.  Scarcity programming leads you to be broad to serve more people.  That won’t work in your favor.  Trust me here.
  2. Create a scalable business around your ideal client and determine what the biggest benefit someone has by working with you.

As You Can See, A Business Without Clear Direction Is A Hobby.

Shanda, this post is so timely for me! Thank you! You are very right about narrowing your target market and focusing on them. I think that once your business grows, you will have the knowledge to expand if needed to. Thank you!

Great article! Definitely helpful, I think many of us try to reach EVERYONE as opposed to really focusing on our NICHE even after we’ve identified it. I know during our start up phases we tend to want to reach many clients for numbers and for revenues.
