Let me clear up a perceived misunderstanding that Facebook, Twitter and Linked In, are a waste of time and energy.

To put it bluntly, if you're not socializing on social media then you are missing out on a HUGE win for your business.  There are many facets to online networking that lead to generating loyal customers, profits and fantastic  joint venture partnerships.

Social media is a low cost approach to marketing yourself and your company.  The learning curve is short and the benefits far out exceed the effort.  There’s a reason why Facebook is the second most trafficked website on the internet.  EVERYONE is on it!   Instead of being stubborn about boycotting the massive giant, why not realize that it’s the perfect vehicle to send happy and healthy customers directly to you.

When a woman wants to grow her network she ventures to Linked In.  The proper way to use Linked In is to join a private group of other like minded professionals.  It’s the  Board Room of the internet.

One of the easiest ways to get media coverage without having to hire a big PR Agency is to 'tweet'.  Used properly, Twitter will enable YOU to gain access to top reporters, journalists, and Television experts that are looking for good stories. There’s a lot of empty space in media that needs to be filled, so why shouldn’t it be your company getting the free coverage?

Hint: Sign up for TweetAdder, watch the short training video and do a key word follow to find media resources and auto follow them.  When you connect with key media people, re-tweet and reply to their messages.  That’s a great way for people to notice YOU.   As your following grows, you become the stand-out among all the other followers.

Personally, I’ve met my last two joint venture business partners on Facebook. It’s my favorite place to get to know my clients, stay close to my friends, and connect with high impact professionals.  Never under estimate the magnitude of Facebook.
